Partial charts
When a store returns fewer entries than expected, AppOrbit shows the result as partial rather than filling gaps with older data.
METHOD AND LIMITS
Observed, not estimated.
AppOrbit records public Apple App Store and Google Play rankings over time. It does not estimate downloads, revenue, or active users.
What we record
Each observation belongs to a store, market, category, and chart. It includes the exact UTC observation time, the number of apps returned, and a link to its public source.
App names, developers, icons, store links, and categories are shown when they were available at the time of observation.
How changes are calculated
The previous chart is the latest complete observation for the same store, market, category, and chart. Failed or partial updates are not used as comparison points.
A positive change means an app moved up; a negative change means it moved down. NEW means the app was absent from the previous complete chart and appears in the current one.
How time periods work
Trending compares complete charts at the beginning and end of the selected period. When either point is missing, AppOrbit does not infer movement or new entries.
Each market is sampled at 04:17 in its configured time zone. Chart dates use that market-local calendar date, while exact capture timestamps remain available in UTC and can be displayed in your local time zone.
Unavailable charts
When a chart is not available for a store or market, AppOrbit says so and does not substitute a different market.
Not ranked
An app is considered not ranked only when a complete chart exists and the app is absent from it.
Independence
AppOrbit is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple or Google. Trademarks, app icons, and store pages belong to their respective owners.
Open licenses
AppOrbit source code is released under the MIT License. Database rights owned by AppOrbit contributors are licensed under the Open Database License 1.0.
The data license does not grant rights in third-party content, trademarks, or artwork. Those rights remain with their respective owners.
